Political Commentary Shapes Public Opinion

Despite being platform brothers, the Skoda Kodiaq and the next generation Volkswagen Tiguan differ in a number of ways.Skoda and Volkswagen recently unveiled their flagship models, the new Kodiaq and Tiguan, respectively. Despite sharing the same engine and gearbox combination and using the VW Group's MQB Evo platform, the Tiguan and Kodiaq differ greatly in a number of important areas.

How do the seats and luggage space of the Volkswagen Tiguan and Skoda Kodiaq compare

Whereas the Kodiaq can hold seven passengers, the Tiguan can only hold five.

The new Kodiaq outperforms the Tiguan right away by adding a third row of seats, and because of its greater size, it can accommodate up to seven people. It features a 111mm larger wheelbase of 2,791mm and measures 4,758mm in length, 1,864mm in width, and 1,679mm in height. In contrast, the 5-seat Tiguan has a wheelbase of 2,680mm and measures 4,539mm in length, 1,859mm in width, and 1,656mm in height. But according to our evaluation, the third row of the new Kodiaq is a little too small for adults.

Isn't Kodiaq's boot significantly larger

Because of its larger size, the Kodiaq can carry a lot more stuff. When all three rows are up, it can hold 281 liters, and when the third row is folded down, it can hold an incredible 786 liters (for a more level comparison with the Tiguan, which has a 652-liter trunk). The Kodiaq and Tiguan have capacities of 1,976 and 1,650 liters, respectively, when the second row is folded down.

Features and safety of the Skoda Kodiaq versus the Volkswagen Tiguan

Does the Tiguan only come in sporty R-Line trim, whereas the Kodiaq comes in two variants

The Tiguan and Kodiaq are high-end SUVs with luxurious interiors and a ton of amenities. The Sportline and Laurin & Klement trims are both available for the Kodiaq. With blacked-out external details, distinctive 18-inch wheels, an interior that is mostly black, a 3-spoke steering wheel, and sports seats, the Sportline is the entry-level model. With features like self-parking technology, a 360-degree camera, and front seats that are massaged and ventilated, the L&K sacrifices sportiness for luxury. The top-of-the-line R-Line model is the only one available for the new generation Tiguan.

A large infotainment touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, a panoramic sunroof, front seats with massages, 3-zone temperature control, ambient lighting, high-end sound systems, and more are features shared by the new Tiguan and Kodiaq.

Is there anything that Tiguan lacks that Kodiaq has

The front seats of the Tiguan only have electrical lumbar adjustment with manual fore-and-aft sliding and heating features, but the front seats of the Kodiaq L&K include ventilation, complete electrical adjustment, memory functions, and extensible under-thigh support. The absence of seat ventilation in the India-spec Tiguan R-Line might be a pain point for purchasers when summer temperatures in India soar.

Features like dual gloveboxes on the dashboard, more speakers in the sound system (13 versus 8), rear window shades, fully automatic self-parking technology (the Tiguan requires manual throttle and brake input), an air purifier, a driver attention and drowsiness monitor, and a 360-degree camera give the Kodiaq some more significant advantages over the Tiguan.

Does Kodiaq lack some of the notable characteristics of Tiguan

With the addition of Level 2 ADAS, a larger infotainment screen (15-inch vs 13-inch), a heads-up display, larger 19-inch wheels, and Dynamic Chassis Control technology, the Tiguan R-Line recovers a few points while losing out on certain useful features.

The cost of the Skoda Kodiaq versus the Volkswagen Tiguan

High-quality Is the Kodiaq L&K 31,000 rupees less expensive than the Tiguan R-Line

Due to Volkswagen's CBU (completely constructed unit) importation strategy, the Tiguan R-Line costs Rs 49 lakh more than the Kodiaq, which is a CKD (completely knocked down) model and hence subject to lesser taxes.

The Kodiaq undercuts the Tiguan R-Line by up to Rs 2.11 lakh, with prices starting at Rs 46.89 lakh for the Sportline trim and Rs 48.69 lakh for the top-of-the-line L&K model.
